Bridge Street Surgery has a well established and valued patient participation group who meets quarterly within the practice to discuss improvements and ideas with the practice PPG team, led by the practice administrator and supported by the practice manager.
Bridge Street Surgery is actively seeking patients to join and form together a patient participation group. We are looking for people of any age, gender or background to create a panel of representatives to provide a formal link of communication between the practice and its patients.
All registered patients are welcome to attend any meeting of the Patient Participation Group without giving prior notice.
What is the Patient Participation Group or PPG?
A Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of people who are patients of the surgery and want to help it work as well as it can for patients, doctors and staff. The NHS requires every practice to have a PPG.
Why should I join?
You have been to the surgery as a patient, parent, carer or friend.
Your experiences matter and you can bring different ideas to the surgery to help us treat patients better or to improve what we do in some way.
You will also gain a better understanding of the NHS, and gather feedback from other patients.
How often does the Patient Participation Group meet?
We meet, but not too often, led by a committee voted for by the patients. If you can’t make meetings then don’t worry – you can still be part of our virtual group.
Who manages the mailing list for the PPG?
The mailing list will be held by the GP surgery and any emails sent so that individual’s emails are not shared with others.
Our Active PPG
The PPG along with the surgery puts on a Health Roadshow every year to bring information and awareness to our patients and the wider public about the wonderful support organisations within the area and allows us as a local GP practice to fundraise for new medical equipment.
Over the past three years, these events have raised a whopping £1249.36. This has allowed the surgery to purchase a hearing loop for our hard of hearing patients and an adjustable nurse’s couch.
“The PPG exists as a conduit between us as patients and the surgery; we welcome any input from you (patients) so that we can improve the service we give. Fortunately we are blessed with an excellent staff and doctors at this practice so it makes our job straight forward, we take your input via the suggestion box very seriously and will do our best to accommodate you.
We hope this gives you a reasonable overview; we are always looking for additional members, so please feel free to join us, just ask at reception for more information.” – Colin (PPG Member)
